Hello!
I’m Pastor Jonathan and I was called to serve Hope Lutheran as its pastor in July of 2002. Previously I had served at Gethsemane Lutheran in Maplewood as Pastor of Youth and Family Ministries and prior to that I served as Associate Pastor at Christiania Lutheran, south of Lakeville. I greatly enjoy serving God and the Church in the city where I grew up.

Hope Lutheran is a place where members, non-members, visitors, and friends all gather as the people of God to hear God’s word of grace and acceptance. It is a place to learn and have fun tstaffogether, to worship and sing, to share our gifts and share in God’s gifts to us, particularly through the meal of communion.
Hope Lutheran has served many generations of people living on the East Side and retains its neighborhood identity with many members living close enough to walk to church. |
That is not to say you need to live in the neighborhood to feel welcome however! Even so, the phrase on our logo, “where everybody knows your name” is to say we are not a church where you will get lost or remain anonymous. We celebrate the fact that God knows each of us by name as he says in the book of Isaiah, “I have called you by name, you are mine.”
I hope that you know well the love of God that is yours through Jesus Christ. Whether you have not been to a church in awhile, attend regularly, or even if you have never been, we at Hope Lutheran seek to welcome you with open arms and hearts.
